4. MONOCYTES
Monocytes circulating in the peripheral blood are part of the Innate Immune System. Monocytes naturally concentrate on infected or traumatized tissue by activating locally in Macrophages. Macrophages play a fundamental role in the second phase of acute inflammation, initially by modulating the inflammatory reaction, the phagocitation of bacteria and foreign bodies and, subsequently, promoting the repair of the injured tissue. For therapeutic use, the system (Monocytes) is used, capable of filtering the Monocytes from the patient's blood. The filtration product is then inoculated under local anesthesia into the diseased joint. In clinical practice, the local infiltration of Monocytes shows a marked analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity; this activity is mainly indicated in the treatment of inflammatory tendinopathies, fasciitis and bursitis.
